How It All Begun

Transforming Generations is Our Story

Reverend Dr. David Ndungu Mwangi, compelled by the desire to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, pursued his college education in the fields of education and ministry in both Canada and the United States. Dr. Mwangi obtained his doctoral degree from Luther Rice College and Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He also completed his studies at Wheaton Bible College in Illinois, earning a Master of Arts, and at Jackson State University in Mississippi, achieving a Master's in Education. Furthermore, he graduated from Ontario Bible College in Canada, attaining a Bachelor's in Theology.

Over a span of more than 30 years, while serving as a pastor within the African Inland Church (AIC) and as an educator in Kenya, Dr. Mwangi was deeply moved by the plight of orphans and destitute children he encountered throughout his career. He was profoundly concerned about the scarcity of resources available to establish a solid foundation in education, healthcare, and robust biblical teachings for the youth. In response to this pressing need, Dr. David Mwangi initiated a ministry in Nakuru, Kenya, in 2004. Over the years, it evolved into a dual boarding school and orphanage known as Grace Primary School, where over 320 children per year received education and nurturing. As time passed, the vision expanded beyond the orphanage to encompass the surrounding communities, introducing post-secondary vocational and technical training. History and Beyond

From 2004 until the global COVID-19 pandemic, Grace Primary School served as a refuge for children in Kenya who had lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. These children were taught that their true hope and refuge could be found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. They received nurturing, both physically and spiritually, along with education, healthcare, and nutrition in a Christ-centered boarding school. Between 2004 and the close of 2021, over 320 students participated in the program. Of those, 120 and many more went on to college, pursuing courses in nursing, teaching, business administration, and accounting. Additionally, four students enrolled in Bible college, with one graduating in counseling and the other three currently serving as pastors in local churches.

Regrettably, in 2021, due to government COVID-19 mandates, the Grace Primary school was closed, and we celebrated the graduation of our last group of children from the program. The closure also gave us the opportunity to begin the much needed renovations and upgrades to the facility and refocus on our new mission. Looking back, these seventeen years were dedicated to raising champions for Jesus Christ. However, the story does not conclude here. Post-pandemic, God provided us with a new direction, shifting from an orphanage to utilizing the existing facility to become a vocational and technical school. Many young adults in underprivileged communities struggle to pursue post-secondary training, hindering progress for both communities and the nation as a whole.

Youth Impact Global Outreach is moving forward with this God-given vision aimed at furthering the empowerment of post-secondary school graduates, including former students of the orphanage and those from the surrounding community and beyond. Dr. Mwangi, supported unwaveringly by his wife Elizabeth and the board of directors of Youth Impact Global Outreach, is making a significant impact.
